This is a story based on a game of Rolemaster that me and my family/friends are playing for fun. It's much less technical and much more descriptive.
Adventure 1: Cold Beginnings..
Session 1: I wish I didn't sleep so much.
Chapter 1: Cold Beginnings.
Our heroes traveled into the fiery pits of hell, slaying demons left and right. Finally they confronted Lucifer himself, and.. No wait these are the wrong adventurers. Our adventurers happen to be much more pathetic and.. Ah hell I'll just get on with it.
The local town that our adventurers were residing in quite happened to have this policy.. It was a policy that if you stay in the town for a couple of days that unless you were on official business, you would be recruited into the Militia.. That or you would perish a painless, but very quick death by suddenly being turned into Cheddar cheese via mysterious stab wounds.
David the Ranger was caught off guard as the guards themselves decided to "recruit" him. They told him to join the Militia, or else. David had met several other Rangers in the area who had become a part of the Militia and lived to be perfectly fine. They even got free training! So David thought it wouldn't be so bad.. Well compared to the whole death scenario anyway.
Robert the Warrior was also caught off guard, only more so as he was not very familiar with this town or the surrounding area.. In the slightest. The guards decided to "recruit" him as well, telling him to join or die. As Robert tried to explain that he didn't know about the law, the guards drew their blades half an inch out of their sheathes. In response Robert was quick to "agree" to the whole idea of joining the Militia.. At least he got to fight was the only thing he could convince himself as positive in this whole situation.
The very next day, during guard duty, a messenger rode in on horseback. The messenger was very weak, and slid off his saddle at the end of his ride. The commander ran over to the messenger as Robert and David tried to listen in closely to what was going on with absolutely no luck whatsoever. After all, they were on guard duty on the top of the wall surrounding the town. After some fevered speaking between the messenger and the commander the messenger fell unconscious. It was at that moment that the commander barked out various orders, including for Robert and David to reach him at once.
Once Robert and David reached their commander they noticed about four others also joined up with them. The commander points at Robert the Warrior, as he is a tall and crude Norseman of about 6'5" in height and 250 pounds of muscly terror. The commander quickly barks out an order. "YOU! Lead these five others and get to Barrencrow NOW! You are to assist the village of Barrencrow in any way you can and you must slay any who dare harm the village. RIGHT NOW! TAKE THESE HORSES AND GO!" Robert the Warrior, David the Ranger, and the other four stalwart companions run to the horses and leap onto the saddles. It was time to go on an adventure.. Their first adventure from their cold beginnings.

Chapter 2: The trail blazes off.
Now where were we? Ahh yes, now I remember..
David the Ranger and the rest of the adventurers were on horseback at this point. The ride would take about two hours, but they had some questions to ask each other. Especially David. While Robert had mostly the same questions as David, David was the one who knew how to ask them. All Robert really knew how to do was kill things. David asked the Adventurers what they may be able to do in a battle and at the same time as Robert, began to look over the group. Two men looked like A-Typical Militia with helmets and leather vests as protection along with the most common blade being the Broadsword.
One of the men had almost the exact same look as the other two in uniform, except that he wasn't wearing a helmet. The last of the men looked like he was having a hard time wearing armor at all as he slouched in it. David suggested to the man for him to take it off while Robert suggested to hold onto it until they were close to battle. After all, they should return with the equipment that the Militia had given them. Except for Robert.. He was already wearing a plate mail breastplate. That was his, as was his Broadsword and the belt that wrapped around his shoulder, down to his waist on the other side, and then back up to his shoulder in a loop. Inside this was a few daggers meant for throwing at an enemy. David is wearing a rigid leather vest and also had the typical Broadsword. As a Ranger, he was a balance of magic and combat while Robert was purely in the combat mindset. The entire group also wields shields to help protect them against enemy attacks.
The A-Typical looking Militia didn't really respond much other then to say that they were recruited into the Militia the same way they were. As was the man without a helmet, although he admitted to having some sneak skills. It was the man who was wearing his leather vest awkwardly that was completely confused as to why he was even here. He was originally heading for the largest city in the land, Greyhawk, in hopes that he could train in his magical ability. In response to this Robert asked about what type of magic he could use, and all that was told to him was channeling. Being a Warrior with absolutely no idea of how Magic works, that went in one ear and out the other. "Jeez your helpful. Why the hell did they recruit you?" Robert said in a rather smug tone of voice as David quickly interjected to ask his more intelligent questions.
"So what kinds of spells do you have?" His tone rang with the clarity of an Elf, but with the curious ring of a Human. David was in fact a half-elf. Not as big as Robert, but not short either. The magic wielder responded by saying. "I can put things to sleep!.. I can also zap people with lightning but that takes a lot of focus.." Robert pretty well only heard the zap part, and sighed in annoyance. "That IS a form of attack dammit! You could have mentioned it!" The Magi obviously ignored Robert, as I'm sure he and most of the party would learn to do so. However it was at this moment that both Robert and David noticed that the Magi also had one other possession. He also had a wooden staff.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robert and the group arrived at the devastated village of Barrencrow. Crying, screaming, and begging could be heard inside the town. There appeared to be a few Orc bodies scattered about the village at first glance, along with most of the village burning up in smoke. Robert, David, and the man without a helmet proceeded carefully into town together. People ran about all trying to put out the fire as they motioned for the rest of the group to catch up. Before Robert, or David, or anyone else for that matter can ask the villagers what happened a woman with some kind of servant or bodyguard came running up to them. The woman quickly identified herself as Peignoir, the Count's wife.
The Countess was close to weeping uncontrollable as she quickly began to blurt out. "Please you have to help the Count went after the Orcs they went to the forest!!" Robert groaned. "Not the forest.. I've heard bad things about that place from the other Militia.." David quickly asked the Countess to calm down and explain things a bit more calmly. The Countess replied in a slightly calmer, but still extremely distraught voice. "The Count came back with his hunting party to find the town under attack.. The Orcs began to retreat and after he found out that his only son had perished he went in pursuit of the Orcs.. Please you have to help him!" David the Ranger inquired as to which direction the Count went, however he didn't get any helpful information from that inquisition.
The group stopped a couple of nearby villagers who were putting our fires and helping the wounded, the villagers didn't know where the Count went either. It was at that moment that David the Ranger thought of getting a bit out of town and following the tracks. After all, horse hooves would likely be easier to spot. The last bit of information they got before David found the tracks was that the Count took seven men with him to chase after the Orcs. Running to their horses they quickly mounted them and began to give chase to the enemy. Robert says in a somewhat gruff tone of voice as they left the village of Barrencrow. "David and I will lead the group. You, the one with the metal helmet!.. No I mean the first one with the metal helmet, go with the Magi in the middle. Helmetless one and metal helmet two, you go take the rear guard."
Their journey would quickly take them into a dark, old forest filled with mystery and terror.. It would be quite a story for them to brag about.. IF they survive.
(Crap I can't post here. I can only make topics. .-. I guess I'll edit my story in.)
