There was a time, long ago when dragons roamed the 7 continents, protecting the races. All was peaceful. Over the years the humans grew greedy and set out to capture these dragons. Some set out to capture them and harness their power. Others set out to slay the magnificent beasts so no one else could have them. The Dragons eventually dissapeared.
With the dragons gone, the evil in the world grew and the dark races were born. Orcs, goblins, trolls, and all other races of this kind began roaming the world, killing everything they came in contact with. They have already taken over three of the seven continents are are growing stronger.
Becuase of the Human's greed, and causing the disapearance of the winged protectors, the alliance races have split. The elves took to the woods, the dwarves took to the mountains, while the humans remained in the cities.
Theramore, One of the largest continents housed one of the most powerful kings; King David Adonia. He had rallied the trust of the different races and while they still had distaste for one another, fuaght together.
However, the King, being of Human blood by birth, had greed growing in his heart. The Queen, Catherine Adonia, was unable to bear children, leaving the King with no hair to the thrown. He began having an affair causing a major split in the kingdom.
The Queen remained in the North allied with the races of magic; the elves, sorcerers, battle mages, and anyone else that sided with the Queens stance.
The King built a kingdom at the South of the Continent, allied with the Dwarves, barbarians, natural fighters, and of course anyone else who sided with the king.
Both kingdoms have been at war for the past five years. Each kingdom has seperate currencies and not only have the kingdoms grown bitter hate for one another, but some of the clans in the different races have also gone back to having contempt for others.
Welcome to Theramore...

((ooc (out of character) You will be starting in the King's kingdom. If you are of an opposing race you will either be trying to hide your identity, or a slave. I'm going to try something new for me in this kind of forum and DM things while trying not to interfere with your characters. Overall with any luck, it will be like D&D on paper..er, so to speak. If something is happening separatly to your character that the others don't know, I will probably pm you (personal message)))

The ship was coming into dock. Luckily there were no pirate attacks, which happened more often now than they ever had. Fortunatly the only resistance they had along their travels was the weather.
One of the travelers came atop the ship. His hood was drawn and not much could be seen of his features. He noticed another traveler hunched over the railing, feeding the fish with the lunch he had earlier. The hooded man smirked as he passed and stepped onto the dock.
The traveler looked at the town that lay before him. Nofrim, it was a small merchant community so it seemed. Looked to be filled with mostly fisherman. The man traveled down the dock and set foot onto the ground, the first time in months that he had done so.
The town was quite small. The village houses were scattered here and there, the tavern faced the south to the sea, while other merchant shops pretty much faced the same way or were fronted towards the tavern. It was pretty much an opened town.
The tavern seemed as best a place to start as any. Always information flowing about in there. The man entered the tavern, ignoring the commotion from the other customers, and approached a rough looking Dwarf behind the counter.
"What can I do you for?" The dwarf's voice was rough. He eyed the man carefully as he approached his bar. The man sat, his head remaining low as to not give away any features. He placed two silver pieces on the counter.
"Just a glass of ale friend. I am on my way to Theremore. Could you point me in the right direction?"
The dwarf placed the ale on the counter and the man began to drink. "It's to the NorthEast of here, about a days ride. What's your business in Theremore?"
The man placed the glass back on the bar and headed for the door. "Just a little site seeing." As he exited the bar he bared right towards the road leading to Theremore. As he reached the road he could hear comotion on the ship. The man spun to see what was happening. All he could hear were swears and men yelling as a dire wolf, white as the freshest snow, jumped over the side of the boat and raced down the dock. He was heading right for the man. He readied himself. The wolf was coming with great speed. He had to time this just right or the impact would surely cause him injury.
As the wolf reached him, the man dogged to the right, grabbed a handful of hair and tossed himself onto the back of the wolf.
"Taligrad my good friend, it seems you were better sneaking on the boat than you were sneaking off. Head Northeast. We should be able to reach Theremore my nightfall."

The grasslands were rather quiet and calm, a soft warm breeze blew through them as the crystal clear blue sky managed to make this quite a serene start for once.. At least, it would be for Rayne if he hadn't clearly pissed off a group of wolves by unintentionally stepping into a cave with their young. All he wanted to do was find a place to rest his head for a little while, he didn't expect to find an entire pack of wolves inside! He also didn't think to look where he was going inside that cave either. After all, he stepped on the tail of one of the puppies! This of course meant retribution for the wolves.. Which wasn't too healthy for poor unlucky Rayne. He had been running for several minutes now. His legs felt like they were on fire, and he couldn't outrun a wolf forever. They were slowly starting to gain on him, three or four? Rayne couldn't really tell, after all the grass didn't help him discern how many were chasing him. Despite all the running he did it seemed as if these wolves were hellbent on some type of revenge, at this rate it looked as if combat was unavoidable. There was a path up ahead. It wouldn't be perfect, but maybe someone would encounter him and help him. It wasn't far from some type of sea town, with a nice sized harbor and a nice warm Inn with plenty of alcohol to spare. Especially Ale. Nofrom? Noflam? Nofirm? Whatever the name was it wasn't too far out. To the south west, less then thirty minutes away by horse.. At least, he estimated that anyway. Could be closer, could be farther. After all he was running for his life he really didn't have time to stop and pull out a map. Even if he did have time to stop, he didn't even own a map so it wouldn't be much good to him anyway. Pulling out his Machete with his left hand, Rayne came to a sliding stop on the well traveled dirt path. It seemed to stretch onward to the south west and to the north east. It also had about the width of two typical hay wagons side by side. It was as perfect as it was going to get; this would have to be his standing point. He couldn't keep running like this any longer. His legs were simply slowing down. Hopefully the wolves weren't too large, or too numerous. Turning around he watched as one wolf was already in the air attempting to strike him down. The other two wolves were already on his left and right, maybe about thirty feet away. They weren't attacking however; perhaps this was the Alpha male and he was trying to instill superiority into the rest of his pack? For whatever reason, this was a foolish move. Rayne swung his left arm outwards and to the left in a sweeping motion with the intent to gut the wolf in mid-flight as the wolf's sharp teeth reflected the sunlight. Saliva seemed to spray in every direction as the claws came down, and the blade went up. Things seemed to slow down for a moment as adrenaline kicked in; desperation was a powerful thing. However.. His plan did not quite work out as intended. The alpha wolf slammed into him, sending both of them to the ground in a violent crash. The two remained in a deadlock, the wolf on top and Rayne on the bottom. They glared at each other eye to eye as the wolf's saliva slowly dropped from his mouth and onto Rayne's right cheek. Again for another moment, things seemed eerily calm. However Rayne felt something warm drip onto his clothing as the Alpha's glaring eyes suddenly seemed meaningless and dead. The Alpha for that matter was no longer growling or snarling, not struggling or even twitching. While Rayne's attack did not go according to plan, it did not fail either. His machete was about half way into the wolf's chest, straight into it's heart. Blood rolled down his blade and without a doubt it was easily a killing blow. Pushing the wolf off to the right with a dull thump, he slowly began to stand up. His hesitation and exhaustion made this all the harder for him as the two wolves both hesitated. The wolves were scared, and this gave Rayne some hope. Maybe he could escape. He was panting heavily as sweat rolled down his cheeks. The wolves recognized his exhaustion, and both began to growl. Their hair stood on end as the soft breeze once again blew by. It brought the scent of death to Rayne's nose, one which hatched a small seed of dread deep inside him. The wolves both slowly circled him as he grabbed his machete out of the corpse of their former leader. This would quickly become a contest of strength and luck. The winner got to keep his life. The loser? Well.. Rayne was just hoping that maybe for once his luck would change. The other two wolves glared at Rayne and hesitated once again; drooling with anticipation as they both wanted to become the new alpha. They growled viciously as their deep dark eyes peered deep into Rayne's soul. Rayne grinned a bit before his grip on his machete tightened; this battle would be a very close one indeed. Would his experience be enough to carry him through a battle despite how exhausted he was? The wolves took off from a mere thirty feet; dust was kicked up as it would only be a few moments before they would attack without mercy. The last thing that Rayne thought was simply this. This.. Is not my day..(Edited the post a bit to fluff up the detail as Shiori asked for. Also if some of this is a bit odd, that's what I get for writing at three in the morning. )

Taligrad lunged in between the stranger and the two wolves, drawing their attention. The dire wolf stood twice as tall as the normal wolves before him. The hair raised on the back of his neck as he crouched into a defensive stance and let out a deep, intimidating, growl.
The two wolves stopped dead in their tracks. The alpha male was down, and now standing before them was a predator twice their size. They stood their ground, hunkering down and growling in return. An animals hope of a predators bluff. Taligrad took one step forward, ensuring that he was not backing down. The wolves quickly spun around and ran in the direction they had come from, their tails tightly tucked between their legs.
Taligrad turned to face the stranger behind him. Still looking defensive, he looked at the man as if his icy stare was piercing right through him. He looked him over thoroughly. Taligrad cocked his head, as his eyes glanced up and met with those of the stranger.
"No, you can not eat him." The cloaked elf walked up the path from behind the stranger, a smirk spreading across his face. He continued past the stranger and knelt down by the slain wolf. He placed his hand on the fallen creature and stroked his fur once before standing and addressing the man before him.
"My name is Ripkin. My friend here is Taligrad. We heard the commotion and decided we would see if we could help. Unfortionatly we didn't make it in time to prevent this one from dying. I suppose you now have meat to keep you fed upon your travels and fur to keep you warm." Ripkin looked up at the midafternoon sky and then up the North East path. "I hate to cut the introductions short, but I am in a rush to Theremore. I must make it there by nightfall. It was nice to meet you my friend."
With that Ripkin turned towards Taligrad, placing one hand on the left of his neck, and patting him on the right with his other. "Good job buddy. If we hurry we can still make it by dark."

Rayne watched as two wolves raced to rip him to shreds, and just before they could do so another Dire Wolf leaped in at the last moment. Either this was their REAL alpha male, or help did come from the path after all. The other two wolves stopped in their tracks, it seemed like some type of contest for who could eat him. Pondering his options Rayne decided to back up a bit. He only managed to go a couple steps however before watching the other two pack wolves run whilst the dire wolf remained.
It was at that moment that Rayne realized that he may have just been saved from one danger, only to encounter another. The dire wolf turned around and looked apprehensive, distrusting. This could end very quickly, and likely not in his favor. The wolf's stare made him clear his throat in an uneasy manner; all he could do was try to hide the fear of death deep inside himself not show it off for everyone to see.
The wolf seemed to look at each of his limbs and his torso, as if evaluating what kind of threat Rayne could pose. With the sweat rolling down his skin and the little bit of blood that still remained in his clothes he probably looked more like a pest then a threat. At least he felt his energy slowly returning to him. While it was unlikely that he should be dashing for the next several minutes he could at least keep walking at a decent pace. Finally the wolf seemed to look up into his eyes, the slight connection told Rayne one thing; this wolf was certainly a tamed one. Feral wolves still had the look of a bloodthirsty animal in them, this wolf simply looked at him with a combination of hunger and curiosity. For once maybe he didn't have to fight.
"No, you can not eat him." The cloaked stranger seemed to walk up the path behind Rayne, his voice ringing loud and clear as the wolf seemed to lose interest almost as quickly as it had gained interest. Turning around to face the stranger, he slowly sheathed his machete. It likely didn't look too good for him to have his blade out while talking to a man that might have just prevented him from becoming a wolf's meal.
The man was a little tall to be a human, but certainly too short to be a high elf. Probably another kind of elf, one which he hadn't encountered yet. Then again it could just as easily be a Norseman, but they generally don't venture out this way to his knowledge. They usually stayed in and around mountains. Oh yeah, and they didn't get along well with wolves either. The smirk on the stranger's face showed that he was either overly friendly, or a little bit psychotic. Hopefully it wasn't the latter.
The stranger seemed to ignore him for a moment however as he seemed more interested in the corpse of the alpha wolf. Rayne looked himself over quickly, noting no major wounds. Maybe a scratch or two from being slammed into the ground but nothing that a night's rest wouldn't cure. The stranger turned back to him and looked as if he was about to speak. With this Rayne tried to take one good look underneath the hood to figure out if the stranger was an Elf or a Norseman to no avail.
After hearing the statement that the stranger provided, he guessed out a couple of things. "Ripkin eh'.. Well if you wouldn't mind me tagging along? There isn't much of a point to me staying here, and while I don't know much about this land I do know much about the land. Besides lately I've been chased by more than wolves.. So I don't think it's safe for either of us to travel alone." Rayne's tone was mixed with curiosity and cautiousness. On one hand, here was a chance to get some help for a while. On the other hand, he could be aiding an escaped convict. Either way, he should take the risk.
"If we can hurry we can still make it by* dark." That interested Rayne. This man was certainly in a hurry to get to Theremore.. Which either meant adventure or certain death. Then again, most things lately have been either great reward or great death. The sun remained at about mid-day, the soft breeze continued to sway the grass every once in a while. The dirt path seemed to stretch onwards as far as the eye could see in either direction. Rayne really hoped he could get some help reaching any town, leave alone this "Theramore" that was mentioned by Ripkin.
((No worries man. Now just one quick question.. Do you want to be the GM or should I? (Basically just describing the area, controlling most if not all NPC's, etc etc.) Because I can GM or just play a character. Again it's up to you.
*Marked for spell correction in a quote.))

Darkness had set in by the time the two travelers had reached the city. Ripkin could see the gates to Theremore just up ahead. The travelers where still concealed with forest on either side of them, and Ripkin stopped just before a clearing between the woods and Theremore.
Ripkin's elvin eyes helped him see that the road was empty. Only he, Taligrad, and Rayne occupied it at the moment. Fire outlined two guards from two huge stone basins attached to the wall on either side of the gate, above the centries.
Leaving Taligrad's side, Ripkin approached Rayne "I appreciate your company on our travels here. However, I can not enter here with you."
Stay along the treeline. Do not enter the city unless I am in need of help. If I do not return by the time sets tomorrow, then I have either been caught, or I am dead. Do try to stay out of trouble while I'm gone. Taligrad looked back at Ripkin as he understood and darted for the woods, dissapearing into the darkness. Ripkin had learned the ability to speak to animals at a young age. It was common for the elves from his home to have this trait.
Ripkin pulled a piece of parchment from his pocket, and unfolded it. "May luck be with you in your travels, friend." Folding up the parchment and placing it back in his pocket, Ripkin began to head South along the treeline.
