RP discussion eh'? Well here is an RP discussion for you. What kind of RP do you want? I prefer Fantasy myself. Not realistic Fantasy, but like Lord of the Rings or World of Warcraft fantasy. You know, swords and shields, bows and arrows, magic and mystery, love and war, etc etc. The stuff that makes real stories. The ones that we actually want to read.
Again, I would prefer Fantasy. Which would the rest of you guy(s) prefer? Science Fiction? Realistic? Fantasy? It's up to you. These questions will go by one by one, I.E. If you want Fantasy I'll ask Fantasy-based questions. The questions will evolve the fit the needs of the people, rather than forcing the people to evolve to fit the needs of the question.
AKA: Just tell me what you want already so we can get this show on the road.

Lol, I like fantasy also. I usually take the stories I write and turn them into games. I like fantasy, realistic, horror, and post apocolyptic. If you have friends to pull in that would be cool too. I wouldn't want anyone to get bored because they don't have enough ideas flowing.
What are your ideas? We can build off of them, or maybe I will have a story I can fit it with. I was thinking about starting a story or RP, but until today, I was the only one here, lol.

Well it all depends.. Which of these three things sounds most appealing?
A. The classic tale of a boy who trains to become a knight. (This tale specializes in having one player as a powerful knight-like character, while another player is a boy who is much younger then the knight and who's skills with a blade and shield are mediocre at best. This can be converted into other things like "The wandering Magician" and stuff like that. This roleplay can also progress and mature into something else entirely.)
B. The classic tale of a princess who is captured. (This tale is about having two or more adventurers going off to rescue a princess. This one is also flexible being that the princess could be trapped in a tall tower, or thrown into a dungeon, or even just kept on the move by the kidnappers. This story can also progress and mature from it's original form to something else entirely.)
C. Ground-up adventure. (This is a lot like a game of D&D. You start out with not much stuff, and by doing quests for your kingdom or going on adventures of great danger and peril your character grows and becomes more powerful, getting stronger stuff, etc etc. This one is by far the most flexible and takes the longest amount of time, although the lack of direction can sometimes curse it to the grave.)
Take your pick. A. Is more like an adventurers tale, and the main goal is simply that the boy becomes a knight. After that it can advance onto other, more complicated tales. B. Is more like a typical rescue tale, and the main goal being that you simply rescue the princess from the clutches of evil. This one to me has the hardest time with character development, but everything else is still easy. C. Is my personal favorite, but is likely also the most difficult out of the three due to its sheer openness. You can be anything and do anything really, but the fact that it doesn't have any direct main goals straight away sometimes makes it hard to start. Once it gets going though it's quite an adventure that should last several months assuming nothing goes wrong.

Well I personally like c, being a D&D player myself. As far as direction goes, thats why there needs to be the one person that helps guide the players. I have a few stories, I'll throw one out and I can help guide the players through so we don't straggle to much. In fact I am starting a game on roleplaygateway, so if you would like to join that, you are more than welcome to. It will be a 3rd edition game.

You have selected option, C., please wait while the computer processes more questions. . .
Error code #2847: Need more memory! Piece of crap. Fine, I'll do it myself. I don't need a machine to do a man's job!
Sheesh.
Out of these few options, which is the most likely to capture your interest. (A. B. and C. is basically selecting a primary category. The following question(s) are simply sub-categories.) Say which one is the most appealing to you, and which one is the least appealing to you.
A. Romantic Interest. (This wouldn't completely devour the plot line, but it would play a heavy part.) B. Action Packed. (Note: Action is combat-based, Adventure is exploration-based.) C. Adventure Filled. (Note: Action is combat-based, Adventure is exploration-based.) D. Comedic Relief. (Note: This will help determine if you want a serious or light hearted Roleplay.)
Also, out of the following here what is your preference?
A. Good Vs. Evil, or skewered sides? (AKA: Black vs. White, or more Grey.) B. Small quests, or long adventures? (Small quests being like "Please slay the wolf named "Behemoth" who lives in these ere' forests and bring me back his nasty white fangs as proof of his death! Or a long adventure where we travel through several lands to accomplish some mighty feat?) C. NPC's in the party, or just players? (The NPC's would likely only play combat roles anyway, but it's up to you.)

It's obvious you like fantasy the best. Do you want me to just start a game instead of going through all the questions?

Regardless I suppose you could. It's up to you.

You were the one that said you prefered fantasy. I listed all the ones I was interested in. Im developing some ideas right now. I will probably have a futuristic/apocolyptic one (haven't decided which yet) and a fantasy one. Give me some time to et them up. Should be soon.

Sweet. I've got an idea for a Sci-Fi RP.. Although it might need a few tweaks.
Plot: The crew on the space ship -Insert name here- are one of the first ships to leave the Earth to explore the Galaxy. We don't get Star Trek phasers and shields, no we get thick armor and powerful rockets and guns. The idea is simply based around exploring, and as it is in a Sci-Fi environment just about anything could happen from extra terrestrials to space flies to nebula's, whatever tickles your imagination enough to pop out into your writing. The only thing I have to work on is how someone might be able to make an Alien character and join, or if it should only be human characters.. Exactly how large the ship is and if it holds several hundred, or just a couple dozen people.. etc etc. I'd prefer to keep it to a rather small crew in either a large or small ship, probably mostly automated considering it's the future.
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

I think if it were on a big ship, it would give the writers more hings they could do. The ship could be like a colony ship. The aliens would depend. Maybe the aliens would be the enemy. Maybe there could be other races that we have picked up along the way. Knowing human curiousity, tht would make sense.

@archangel: Ahh. Okay. Sorry I must have forgotten. I'll make sure to re-read the first post containing the information about the current situation with the two kingdoms before posting again. Last thing I need to do is make a post that would totally conflict with the area around it.
In other news, I have been making some progress with the futuristic Roleplay. Here is a basic idea, I'm still kicking around a few elements to try and get them into better places but I think I've solved the problem with Aliens vs. Humans.
Text marked in green is text on the plot or Idea. Text marked without green is text that does not explain the plot or the Idea.
Idea A: Humanity has begun crawling across the stars. It has domed colonies on Mars and the Moon, even on two of Jupiter's moons. Things seem to be advancing quickly and quietly. Space seems dead, no sign of Intelligent life or even life at all currently existing in the Galaxy. Theorists on Earth decided that because the Universe is so old that they must be on one of the few planets still able to support life, and thus, one of the very few Intelligent species still alive in the Galaxy.
The date is 2084 AD, Earth has been divided into two primary groups. The reemergence of the Soviet Union has claimed China, Russia, the entire Middle East, and almost all of Asia. The United Nations still stand and stronger than ever with North and South America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and South Africa. Most of Africa and some Islands in the Indian Ocean have yet to pick a side or remain independent.
When the International Space Program (ISP) began in 2025 AD their primary goal was to explore the stars. At the time the Soviet Union only contained Russia and China, while the United Nations remained the same way as it is in the present day. They gathered both Cosmonauts and Astronauts from every corner of the Earth to colonize Mars and the Moon in two separate missions which launched a mere five years apart from each other. The Mars mission in 2030 AD, and the Moon mission in 2035 AD. Both missions were incredible successful and lucrative, which made the tensions between the Soviets and the Unioners remain at ease.. Until..
In 2050 AD, the Soviets mowed down the Middle East using Russia's advanced technological warfare and China's nearly unstoppable Infantry force. The Middle East fell within weeks. The United Nations banded together and began working together to produce something which no other person had ever attempted to do. The production of speed-bred Clones. The Soviets countered with Robots.
In 2076 AD, just when things seemed like they were going to explode, both sides mysteriously come to a peace treaty. Clones are returned to normal society and Robots are either discontinued, shut down, or left to their own resources. The general public felt a mixture of disbelief and shock at the sudden turn of events. The reasoning for the sudden peace remains unknown, though the few who tried to find out quickly vanished and were never heard from again.
2084 AD, two explorer ships were sent out to find various Alien races. The United Wing and The Soviet Hand. They both had crewmen from either side, however The United Wing served the United Nations, while The Soviet Hand served the Soviet Union. Both ships mysteriously vanished after leaving the Solar System.
What the Earth did not know however was that they did not vanish; they were taken by Alien forces to a neutral planet. One built on diplomacy and scientific interests. Basically the Universe's own "United Nations" building, except it's an entire planet. What the explorers from either ship would discover would both baffle and shock them as the reality they knew would quickly be shattered.
The basic idea is that you are either one of the many Alien races, or one of the unluckiest bastards to have ever been born. The idea is that we start on this planet, and get back to Earth. The Humans are basically diplomats for their world, and the Aliens just.. Erm.. "Helped" the Humans discover the Aliens. Now before you say "This is too simple! We can just fly back to the Earth!" Why would I reveal entire plot twists like that? The goal is to reach the Earth, what may or may not happen along the way is simply up to you to figure out.
That solves the whole crisis about what the Aliens are, what they do, who they are, if they are playable, etc etc. It sets them up to be completely open instead of the bad guys, or the good guys. Just more guys in the Galaxy. As I said I'm still kicking this idea around to make it better. If you have any ideas I would be delighted to hear them.
Oh yeah and I have a second Idea, although it isn't totally original and it's almost entirely undeveloped. Have a look at it anyway.
Idea B: Humanity has spread across a few stars, and has founded a station in a neutral system bordering some of the most powerful and well known Alien Races in existence. Players would exist on this neutral station as staff or civilians. The station is incredible large, and can hold several hundred thousand souls. The idea behind it is basically a "United Nations" in space.
This is based on an old TV show called "Babylon 5" which I adored when I was younger. Based on the concept, not the plot line. The Station orbits a lifeless planet in a neutral system, with the goal of spreading peace throughout the Galaxy.
I just thought of doing something like that, and while it isn't original I thought I'd give you all the choice of being space explorers or peace seeking people on a station. Or you could tell me not to make this and I won't. xD Also, everything you see could be changed. Just throwing out an update and saying "This is not dead, it's still twitching."
